Learning Space Seminar 2016

On 26 October 2016, Academic Development Centre (ADeC) has suceessfully organized a Learning Space Seminar located in Auditorium, Asia-Europe Institure, University of Malaysia. This seminar was held as a platform for participants to share their experience and experiences from research and other institutions, on the philosophy and design of the new collaborative learning spaces. A total of 40 participants, mostly consisting of academic staffs from various public and private universities around Malaysia have taken this chance to join the seminar.


This seminar was successfully launched by the Deputy Vice Chancellor of Academics and International, Professor Dr. Awang Bulgiba bin Awang Mahmud. Participants were given exposure about the uses and importance of learning spaces to enhance teaching and learning. They were also given chance to visit some of the learning spaces in Universiti Malaya besides discussing critical issues regarding learning spaces.


Among the speakers who were giving talks about the learning space are Dr. Daniel Tan from Taylor's University, Professor Dr. Faisal Rafiq bin Mahamad Adikan, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Development, Dr. Aishah Abu Bakar from Higher Education Ministry and Professor Dato' Dr. Norazah Nordin from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.


Professor Dr. Faisal Rafiq, who pioneers the learning space idea said, "University of Malaya have built 13 learning spaces in various faculties since 2012 named CUBEs. From those early initiatives, experiences and lessons learned have been gained and now the Office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor of Academics and international) is gearing up to move into the next phase of learning space development,".
